Under the Distance Support Program, UDPAS with support from AVSI has supported 210 children of prisoners and ex-prisoners to continue with formal education, vocational and apprenticeship training in life skills, and providing start-up tool kits to the beneficiaries.
On several occasions, school-going children of inmates drop out of school as a result of their parents/guardians’ imprisonment, girls resort to prostitution leading to unwanted early pregnancies ruining their future and boys end up picking habits like doing drugs, committing crimes thereby terrorizing their communities.
Under the DSP program, UDPAS has been able to support 205 children of prisoners and ex-prisoners to continue with their formal education in nursery, primary and secondary education.
All school-going children are provided with learning materials to enable them to continue with their education without any inconvenience.
